Product Description:

The Sunanda Gown is named for Queen Sunanda Kumariratana of Siam, a consort of King Chulalongkorn who drowned in 1880 when the royal barge she was traveling in capsized. Bystanders on the riverbank watched her and her young daughter go under. No one moved to help. Siamese law at the time made it a crime, punishable by death, for a commoner to touch a member of the royal family, even to save her life. She died in front of people who could have pulled her out and did not dare.
